A Batik from Mozambique was put up on one wall above the picture rail and another may go up elsewhere.
What would be done next? My bedroom is in need of refreshing and the first two things to be done are the windows and plastering bits of the wall. The windows first and I realised that there were three windows on the first floor that needed the original mouldings to go back on. Comparing the original to the present windows showed how much smaller they are now. About 6 ins had to be taken off both the height and width of the original frames. Which means that there used to be more light in the rooms. The present windows measure 4ft by 6ft.
The first photo shows what the windows have looked like for the past 25 years and the second shows what they look like after the surround was taken off and the original mouldings put back on.
There is still one window to do, those mouldings needed some more restoration and afterwards they will all be varnished. There are more windows on the top floor that will eventually need converting. An interesting thing about these window mouldings is that they are exactly the same as the door surrounds in the house, even the same width.
Thank you for showing the Canadians around the house the other week! Very much appreciated! The work you've done on the house is amazing and the place looks fantastic. Cheers. Alex
